Jessica Lal Case: Has Jethmalani Fucking Lost It?

… Or is he making a complete (mis)use of the loopholes in our system by raping our justice system right in front of the judges who are there to uphold and protect it.

The Jessica Lal case. It’s already been made a mockery of by the corrupted to core politicians who rule the Royal Dictatorship of India.

To jog your memory… Jessica Lal was killed by Manu Sharma, son of former union minister Vinod Sharma, because she refused to serve alcohol to him at a celebrity party after 1:30am. Jessica died on the spot.

Years went by as the trial dragged its feet and finally the courts let go of Manu Sharma and his associates.

The complete details of the story are here

So what now?

Ram Jethmalani

Faced by public pressure, the case was re-admitted into courts. Cops were transferred. Full cooperation from the law agencies was assured… until Mr. Manu Sharma appoints Ram Jethmalani as his defense lawyer… And what does Jethmalani do?

jessica1.jpg

This short snippet from NDTV best explains it…

Jessica Lall murder accused Manu Sharma’s high profile lawyer Ram Jethmalani has dropped another bombshell during the hearing of the case.

On Thursday, Jethmalani claimed Jessica was not killed over a drink by Manu but by a man who had a much more powerful motive.

The noted lawyer also stressed that so far truth had been suppressed in the trial.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Jethmalani had claimed he could prove that the model was shot by Sikh gentleman and not Manu. He maintained that he would reveal the identity of the actual killer soon.

Financial Times has more information on the circus of Jethmalani…

In another bizarre twist to the Jessica Lall case, senior counsel Ram Jethmalani on Thursday told a Bench of the Delhi High Court that Jessica was not shot over drinks dispute but because she ‘challenged the manhood’ of the killer

And here’s the kicker… Jethmalani apparently knows who the the real killer is

On Wednesday, Jethmalani had claimed that it was a policeman who shot at the model in a South Delhi bar-cum-restaurant and not the prime accused Manu Sharma or co-accused Amardeep Singh Gill. that it was a policeman who shot at the model in a South Delhi bar-cum-restaurant and not the prime accused Manu Sharma or co-accused Amardeep Singh Gill.

The Hindustan Times has more…

Jethmalani, who is appearing for Manu Sharma, said in court the model was shot dead by a “tall Sikh gentleman“, and not by his client… Jethmalani said Sharma had been framed at the behest of this Sikh gentleman… “The Sikh gentleman was too powerful and police were scared to touch him. Innocent Manu turned out to be a soft target.” Jethmalani said he would soon name this person and establish his guilt, but added he was not referring to any of the accused. He claimed that at a news conference a day after the murder, the police themselves had said that a man wearing a red turban had killed Jessica…. Jethmalani said his assertion was corroborated by key witness Deepak Bhojwani who had said that when he met Sharma at the party, a tall Sikh gentleman was with him. Sharma asked Bhojwani, who was holding two glasses of whiskey, how he got the drinks when Sharma could not manage even one, as the bar had closed.

Jethmalani argued: “At this point, this Sikh gentleman… told Manu ‘I will get the drinks for you’. Bhojwani heard the gunshots 15-20 minutes after the two went inside the bar. It was this gentleman who shot Jessica.” He claimed that according to the police’s site map of Tamarind Court, a man in a turban was
standing at the spot from which the shot was fired.

WHO THE FUCK IS THIS NEW SIKH GUY?

AND IF JETHMALANI KNEW ABOUT HIM WHY THE FUCK DIDN’T HE COME OUT AND SPEAK? ARE YOU TELLING ME THERE ARE SOME FUCKING MORE POWERFUL PEOPLE ABOVE THE POLITICIANS WHO SHUT MANU SHARMA AND HIS FATHER (A UNION MINISTER) UP…

This is A FUCKING MOCKERY of our justice system right in front of our eyes by a fucking culprit, his powerful family and a lawyer who can rape the legal system at his will and command.

How easy was it to pull out a “fictitious” new murderer right out of their ass, right in front of us? Very easy… And there in lies the tragedy of being an Indian… in spite of being a proud citizen, there are some among us who can shame you and me at the snap of a finger…

It’s a Catch 22 for us. If Jethmalani is playing games which I believe to be true, then it’s a real shame… Yet if he is right, it’s again a downright shame that the whole Jessica Lal case was being driven on a different track by unseen hidden powers that are strong enough to blind the one billion population of India.

And in the end… it’s a mockery of the tragic death of Jessica Lal. If Jethmalani could look beyond the power, money and whatever the culprit’s powerful family is bathing him with… he would realize one thing… Jessica Lal is dead. Today he killed with his bare hands the miniscule hope her family may have had… for justice…

For in Jethmalani’s world - justice is the “rand” (prostitute) of the rich and powerful… and he’s the pimp.

  1. spencer Says:

This isn’t a new phenomenon thats what defense lawyers are meant to do and have been doing for years ,infact the most of the big wigs happen to be the defense lawyers cuz they have mastered the art of exploiting the loopholes to get their clients scotfree and I wont be surprised if this case meets the same fate

This is india my friend nothing will change

  2. ThE_BoSs Says:

How did Ram Jethmalani even agree to take this up??

  3. Priyamvada Says:

Not surprised. Rani Jethmalani defended Ameeta Modi (remember the Syed Modi murder case?), and Ram Jethmalani defends a slew of scums with money and power. Runs in the family.

  4. The Guy Next Door Says:

“Jessica Lal was killed by Manu Sharma,….” , Its one thing to suspect someone of doing something, but to outrightly make a statement like that , I am not sure, mate. I am not defending the chap but if the police and judiciary dont have enuf evidence to get a conviction, what proof do you have? U were in the party ??

  5. oz Says:

TGND, Thanks for reminding me that I wasn’t at the party. But does that take away my right to speak out freely what I feel and believe in based on what I have been reading? Would Manu Sharma being hanged just because a person called oz expresses his right to expression on his own personal pages? Or should I be legally asked by the courts to shut my mouth on concluding anything till “the decision is made” a.k.a. Black Friday - the movie.

Thanks but no thanks. I’d rather die in freedom than live in “political correctness” skewed vision which may exist “Next Door” not on this “Train”

  6. sonal Says:

Of course what this Ram Jethmalani is saying is outright BS fabricated stuff. If Manu Sharma was so innocent, how come he never uttered a word abt this Sikh killer until now? This case has been going on for 10-11 yrs now! Only after appointing this lawyer, I guess he remembers about this Sikh killer.

  7. jaldeep Says:

Well isnt it a true Black Friday ? You look at Justice, you look at the criminals …and sad part about all this is that well what Mr jethmalani has done is…that he gas zipped up everyone’s mouth with those allegations…

I guess it is the greatest mockery of all times…when the guy admits on a VCD that he did it but the tape is not admissible on technical grounds…then sure bring on Mr sikh tall guy….amen to all the people who died a death without no justice from the system ever..

  8. Rajesh Sharma Says:

it is a real shame when people like Jethmalani pull such kind of a stunt in the court. I think it’s gonna have him land in a pile of s**t. Regarding The guy next door’s comment on you not being at the party, I know you have already made a stand, but I want to add something here cause it angers me at the naiveness of this person on the whole issue and yet make an opinion pulled out of thin air or right out of his ass. You oz were not there at the party of course, but neither were those hundreds and thousands of protestors who had formed the belief that Manu Sharma did kill Jessica. And that is the reason why these thousands of protests led to the case being reinvestigated and brought back to courts in spite of Manu Sharma being acquitted a few months ago. But if we all had kept quiet, Manu Sharma would be free and Ram J. would never have made an ass of himself with these statements.

  9. kartik krishnan Says:

abey kuch farak nahi padta yaaron !!!!

Deplorable as the situation may be … and i completely share the same feelings as Oz …

my point is ” Been there done that !!! ”

Been to that position through Oz u are right now … and said/felt the same things which u have. Not just the two of us … but an entire mob in support of the trial….

Phir kya hua ??? any result ??? will it make a dime of a difference what u and i think and waste our breaths/frustrations on !!!

Sorry to sound pessimisstic … but have been put off by the indian judiciary too many times to the point that now i dnt give even a rat’s ass !!! Yes jessica died .. i feel sad for her … no justice… i feel sad … but i know that you/I/ him/her/that guy/that girl/anyone/ any tom dick harry can’t do shit about it…. unless they happen to be a big shot !!!!

‘IF UR SYSTEM IS FUCKED UP AND YOU KNOW IT THEN CLAP YOUR HANDS” - a classic and valid quote !!!

  10. Rakesh Sharma Says:

Your final quote sums up it all ‘For in Jethmalani’s world - justice is the “rand” (prostitute) of the rich and powerful… and he’s the pimp’. Need i comment anymore.

  11. Deepja Says:

In reply to TGND if we were not at the party to draw our judgement from common sense(which unfortunately is the most uncommon thing!!), Neither was Ram Jethmalani at the party to make such a statement and that too after so many years of the fact.

This is such pure fabrication, that sometimes when you repeat a lie enough times it starts to sound like the truth which is often see in case of infidelities in marriage. But it would be better if they remain to that level and not become acceptable in murder cases.

  12. rk Says:

Jethamlani has been defending people accused with hard core crime under the excuse that even worst criminal should be given a chance to defend himself and he tries to establish justice. He defended killers of Indira Gandhi. Often he had taken cases of terrorists.
Moreover he is known to bring two parties under some kind of settlements.

  13. cliff Says:

Ram Jethmalani has always been a “bhadva” for smugglerskillers and the like. He has his ticket to hell booked a long time ago. Disgrace in the face of humanity. Asshole!!

  14. Shripriya Says:

Everyone seems to forget the basic fact — everyone is entitled to representation. Everyone. That’s the only way to make sure the innocent are protected.

I might not like Manu Sharma or believe he is innocent, but I fully support his right to the best attorney possible. Why is that wrong?

If Jethmalani breaks the rules in his defense of scumballs, he should be chastised. If he doesn’t break the law, he is to be applauded. Everyone has the right to representation.

The question one should ask oneself is this — What if you are convicted in the court of public opinion, but you are innocent (happens all the time), do you deserve to suffer without representation?

I have a detailed post that I wrote on this topic — http://shripriya.com/blog/2006/11/04/everyone-has-the-right-to-representation/

  15. Muzzy Says:

    Guys,

Theres one more story happening right now in Mumbai. This is gonna have more or less same celebrity status as Jessica Lal. Check out the link

    http://www.ibnlive.com/news/car-runs-over-7-in-mumbai-15-hurt/25999-3.html

This kind of stuff will keep on happening till the cow comes home (which will never be).

Oz, I understand your frustration but right now in India money talks. Until, Manshu Sharma family has money he will be walking free.

Hope that justice is done here.

  16. Shripriya Says:

Btw, just to be clear, while I defend Jethmalani’s right to represent/defend anyone, I do not agree with his tactics.

Just as I do not agree with the tactics of lawyers who defend rapists who put the victim on trial.

Btw, the US system is just as screwed up — one word - OJ. But that doesn’t make this any less sad.

  17. satta singh Says:

Ram SHITmalini’s brain has completely become disfunctional because he is

freaking 83 old retard. He is completely cluless and a lost idiot who does not

know what he is doing or saying about the Jessica Lall’s (JL) case. Earlier he

said a cop shot JL, now he came up with the bullshit story that a tall sikh

killed JL. What would be next coming from his ass. You got it !!! This rotten

old fart needs a BRAIN TRANSPLANT in emergency, before he does something stupid

    about this JL case.

Who does he think he is? There far more experienced and professional lawyers

than him. A person who could bow down to kiss the dirt to defend a killer is

very unprofessional and has no ethics or morale. This lawless small creature

should be kicked out of the court, his licence to practice law be revoked and

    squashed.

As a true high profiled criminal lawyer (as he claims) he should have on the

procecution side of the case such as Mattoo, Nitesh etc. For me he is a PIMP who

runs after money blindly putting his morale and dignity on the back burner. What

good is money when you already 83 years old. Do someting good to the needy

before you exit out, atleast that will partially compensate for all your fuckups

    in life.

  18. k k walia Says:

This eccentric lawyer Jethmalani is prooving as liar

  19. sophocles Says:

    Guys,
I just saw the interview that karan thapar did with Ram Jethmalani. Ram was behaving like an absolute lunatic. He wa shouting, he was screaming, he called karan thapar names and made a complete ass of himself. This man is an absolute to the legal system. I woud love to slap him right across his face, never mind his age. His worst comments were when he challenged the character of Jessica lal. Even karan thapar was incensed - how can u question the character of a woman who was killed over a drink? And ram says - at least now I have given her a character! Its an absolute shame that such dirtbags not only exist in our society but thrive.

  20. oz Says:

    - To dear readers, please email me a link of this video that Sophocles mentions above, once it lands on the internet. Would appreciate this…

  21. Muzzy Says:

Breaking News. Manu Sharma along withVikas Yadav and Amardeep Gill have been convicted by the Delhi High Court.

Not so good news. Lalu & Rabri have been given clean chit in the Fodder scam

  22. Ashita Says:

    hey sophocles, Oz..
Can u plz gimme a link for video of Ram Jethmalani’s interview with Karan Thapar, would love to watch that ass make a mockery out of himself on TV..

  23. The protagonist Says:

rofl as if there arent more important issues in the world than the Jessica Lal case… ! Good to hear u guys have such deep sympathies with her… who wouldnt ? she died young… 34 wasnt it ? But hey who knows the truth ? I have lived in delhi… yes its exactly how sons of politicians behave.. they think they own the world.
But remember ladies… we still dont know the truth… No1 does… So stop judging Manu sharma just cos u like to blog… yes u are entitled to an opinion… But try takin a trip to Africa and u will know that there are not less than a 100 rapes a day… dont have the statistics of the killings.. but i am sure its worse… Look at the treatment of women in saudi arabia. I know women in saudi who had been circumcised when they were born.. so they wouldnt get any pleasure and hence wouldnt indulge in any sort of intercourse before marriage… nvm… The point… theres a lot of S**T in this world… But dont judge till u know all the facts… Jethmalani is a great defense criminal lawyer… Yes hes so good that hes hired by politicians and personalities and he makes more than the average lawyer… Law is a business… Like some1 said earlier every1 has a right to representation.. and Jethmalanis the best.. He screwed up this time… but u cant win them all now can u !!

  24. oz Says:

    - The protoganist, as always I respect everyone’s point of view… though I’m not sure if I should label you an armchair quarterback sitting in an air conditioned room and half mocking half siding people who voiced their opinions (in spite of Jessica being whoever she was… but in spelling it out in the way you did, you simply are insulting a person who can no longer answer you… an action of yours which is nothing less than nauseas for many)… I’m not sure what your point is but it seems to me that having an opinion over something is a crime… well in that case do leave that cozy comfy chair of yours and join the Royal Dictatorship of India’s Politically Always Correct Movement…

Comeon dude… Africa? Why only Africa… you have enough problems in India - if that is what you needed as an example to cement your stance…

  25. Rayasha Kumar Says:

The decisions taken by Delhi High Court in Jessica Lal case not only shows how corrupt the protectors of justice have become but also the reason why Justice is so delayed in our country .This case also brings forward the point that nothing can be done about the corrupt Judges ….

  26. Anthia Mishra Says:

I Understand the injustice only too well. My husband was murdered in 2005 in Delhi. He was an NRI Indian going to visit his father in the village. He had only left Australia 3 days before. I am accusing the police and doctors and CFSL Rohini and hotel for concealing my husbands murder. WE have 3 children - I will never rest and I will chase these bastards down until I get them. I don’t yet know how the courts will view everything. I only know the lies first hand from police. If anyone out there knows how I can contact the families of Jessica Lal and Piyadarshini Mattoo please help. contact this website and I will respond. I read on one website that the family of Priyadarshini wanted to get in touch with other families.
